Course Description:
Conflict is a reality of life; it is inevitable. The course will empower the youth to know and understand what conflict is, where it comes from or rather what are the causes of conflict, how to identify conflicts, types of conflict and levels of conflict, how to prevent conflicts, and how to non-violently manage conflicts once they occur; in all aspects/dimensions of life.
Course Goal:
The main goal of this course is to empower the youth with the right knowledge and skills that will help them identify, prevent and manage conflicts in a non-violent manner.
Course Objectives:
The objectives of the course are to: Educate the youth on the reality and inevitability of conflict(s) in life Instill knowledge and skills of handling conflicts in life Help the youth develop or/and build self-confidence in life
As young people, we are in a stage of human development that is full of energy and hence very active and without forgetting that it is filled with a lot of curiosity. Therefore, in our daily lives, we tend to socialize with almost everybody around us. In the process, we find ourselves quarreling or engaging in a heated debate with either our parents, grandparents, guardians, siblings, neighbors, friends, teachers, schoolmates, church mates, patrons, patronesses,
No one can run away from conflicts in life. However, we can learn to live with them in a positive way and bring the best results out of them. As we have come to realise that conflict is part and parcel of our daily lives, we now need to look at how can we really prevent any conflict and/or manage them; either as individuals or as a group.
Section I-Peacemaking and peacebuilding methods
When we don’t afford to prevent conflicts and poorly manage them, then we have at our disposal three very important methods of ‘permanently’ settling those conflicts.
